History of the Gentry Register Club

Our Club was formed in autumn 1977 by Vince French and by January 1978 boasted over twenty members.

The first Club magazine called Replicar was produced in early 1978, followed by further issues in August and December of that year. By November the membership was approaching sixty, it was during this period the six Club areas were formed and Area Secretaries appointed.

They are London & South East, Southern, Midlands, North West, North East and Scotland.

In the summer of 1979 the magazine was renamed The Gentry Journal. It has continued to be produced quarterly with this title ever since.

The Register is run by a Committee consisting of a Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer, Journal Editor, Technical Advisor and the Area Secretaries.

We also have as a Sales Secretary who is responsible for items such as badges, fleeces, magazine binders, etc.

The Club currently has over 140 members many of them attend shows around the country each year, the main event we attend is the National Kit Car Show held at Stoneleigh near Coventry during the first May bank holiday. During the show we hold our AGM and discuss any issues members may have.

The Club has attended the Town & Country Festival for many years and has been awarded first prize in the inter club competition for three consecutive years. This was achieved with only ten members organising and constructing the exhibit.
